There was no surprise in Montreal where bottom-ranked Gaiters (0-6) were defeated by second ranked Citadins (6-2) 63-53 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 63-53. Citadins forced 24 Gaiters turnovers. Center Jessica Lubin scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Queteline Celestin chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Citadins' coach Albena Branzova allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Ecuadorian point guard Edith Nobelecilla Varela (163-90) with 15 points and 4 assists and Argentinian forward Mara Lis Marchizotti (193-94) scored 13 points and 4 steals. Citadins have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-2 record having ten points less than leader UFV. Loser Gaiters still closes the standings with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
