Regular Season Round 15: Aishin AW - JX Sunflowers 49-68

WJBL top team - JX Sunflowers (14-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Aishin Wings (4-11) in Anjo 68-49. It looked good early as Aishin Wings took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JX Sunflowers took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 19 points. JX Sunflowers outrebounded Aishin Wings 41-29 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Yuki Miyazawa (181-93, college: Queens, NY) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) with 13 points and guard Hitomi Takasaki (168-86) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JX Sunflowers have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Aishin Wings lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Toyota B SR. JX Sunflowers will play against Niigata (#7) in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aishin Wings will play at home against Fujitsu RW and hope to get back on the winning track.
