There was no surprise when 8th ranked Al Ahli (3-14) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Al Khor (8-9) 64-60 on Sunday. American guard Jamarr Hardy (191-83, college: Lenoir CC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Senegalese forward Moustapha Niang (206-83) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Hardy is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Nigerian power forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Vitti Moto Barsiyak scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Al Khor maintains sixth place with 8-9 record. Loser Al Ahli keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Qatar. Al Khor will meet at home Qatar Sports Club (#8) in the next round. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
