Top ranked Al Rayyan (15-2) recorded its second loss in Doha on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked Al Gharafa (13-4) 90-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Rayyan. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Al Gharafa dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) who scored 25 points and 6 assists. Nigerian forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Hassan Mohamed (190-91) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and Croatian center Jurica Zuza (207-78, agency: Alti Sport) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Gharafa have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Jaysh. Defending champion Al Rayyan still keeps top position with two games lost. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
