Regular Season Round 16: EA7 Armani - Enel Brindisi 89-65
Date: January 19, 2014
Round 16 in SerieA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Milano where host Armani Milano (11-5) crushed league's leader Enel Brindisi (11-5) 89-65 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Enel Brindisi. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Armani Milano. Enel Brindisi managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Armani Milano especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) fired 20 points for the winners. The other American import point guard Curtis Jerrells (185-87, college: Baylor) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian-Serbian forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Armani Milano have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Enel Brindisi. Enel Brindisi will play next round against strong Lottomatica Roma trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Armani Milano will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Cimberio Varese on the road.
