There was no surprise when 13th ranked Mondeville (3-12) was crushed on the road by third ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (13-2) 61-39 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Villeneuve D'Ascq. Mondeville managed to win fourth quarter 8-5. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mondeville 45-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni (188-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 13 points. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American forward Courtney Hurt (185-90, college: VCU) with 10 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Marine Johannes (174-95) scored 7 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Villeneuve D'Ascq. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Lattes Montp. Mondeville lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Nice. Villeneuve D'Ascq will meet Tarbes (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mondeville will play against Charleville-Mezieres (#6) and hope to secure a win.
