Regular Season Round 5: Ourinhos - Sao Jose 64-65

Another exciting game for Sao Jose (3-2) which played on the court of 4th placed Ourinhos (2-3). Fifth ranked Sao Jose upset home team edging them after exciting game by one point 65-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ourinhos. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ourinhos won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sao Jose dominated on the defensive end, holding Ourinhos to just 7 points in second quarter. Cuban power forward Yakelyn Plutin (187-79) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international power forward Karina Jacob (187-85, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sao Jose's coach Carlos Lima allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International guard Taina Paixao (176-91) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Cuban forward Yulianne Rodriguez (185-82) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sao Jose have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Maranhao. Ourinhos at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Sao Jose will play against Santo Andre (#6) at home in the next round. Ourinhos will play against the league's second-placed Americana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
