Regular Season Round 21: Carleton - Ottawa 82-58

Date: January 21, 2014
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Ottawa, ON: Ravens (#1) and Gee-Gees (#2). Ravens (14-0) crushed visiting Gee-Gees (12-2) by 24 points 82-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gee-Gees. The game was mostly controlled by Ravens. Gee-Gees managed to win third quarter 23-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ravens had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Tyson Hinz (201-91) stepped up and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Thomas Scrubb (198-91) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Ravens players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Terry Thomas (193) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Ravens. They maintain first place with 14-0 record which they share with defeated Gee-Gees. Loser Gee-Gees still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Victoria and Alberta. Ravens will meet at home Golden Gaels (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Gee-Gees will play against Lions (#5) and hope to secure a win.
