Regular Season Round 26: Shanghai S. - Guangdong ST 85-90

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Guandong Tigers (23-3) won against on the road 5th ranked Shanghai Sharks (16-10) 90-85 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shanghai Sharks won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Guandong Tigers won last quarter 25-21. The best player for the winners was international ShiPeng Wang (198-83) who scored 31 points and 4 assists. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. American Darnell Jackson (203-85, college: Kansas) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) added 28 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guandong Tigers have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 23-3 record. Loser Shanghai Sharks keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Guandong Tigers will face league's second-placed Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shanghai Sharks will play at home against DongGuan Leopards and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
