Regular Season Round 15: Maccabi R.Hen - Ramat Hasharon 77-75

The most exciting game of round 15 in the D1 took place in Ramat Hen. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Ramat Hasharon (7-6) to third ranked Maccabi Ramat Hen (9-5) 77-75 in the game for the third place. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 24-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Ramat Hasharon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) who led her team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Her fellow American import swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) helped adding 17 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Laine Selwyn (170-81, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Data Plus Group) with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ramat Hasharon players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ramat Hen maintains third place with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Maccabi Ashdod. Ramat Hasharon at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Maccabi Ramat Hen are looking forward to face Elitzur Netanya (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ramat Hasharon will play against Elitzur Holon (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
