Regular Season Round 14: Haukar - IR 85-88

A very interesting game took place in Hafnarfjordur. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Haukar (7-7) to tenth ranked IR (4-10) 88-85 on Thursday evening. Haukar was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 32-17 third quarter run of IR. The best player for the winners was point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (185-94, college: Flagler) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Nigel Moore (195-81, college: Alabama A&M) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Emil Barja (192-91) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. IR moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Skallagrimur. Newly promoted Haukar dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. IR's next round opponent will be higher ranked Grindavik (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
