Date: January 23, 2014
Important game to mention about took place in Sao Paulo. Eighth ranked Palmeiras (9-8) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (6-10) 87-84 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Paschoalotto/Bauru. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Paschoalotto/Bauru won fourth quarter 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Guto Pereira (190-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Center Atila Santos (208-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Warren Sports International) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Palmeiras players scored in double figures. The former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Paschoalotto/Bauru. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Palmeiras maintains eighth place with 9-8 record. Paschoalotto/Bauru at the other side keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. Palmeiras will play against higher ranked Winner/Limeira (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play against the league's second-placed Paulistano (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
