We should mention about the upset which took place in Toluca, where higher ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (16-17) lost to eleventh ranked Gigantes (9-21) in a road game 66-77 on Thursday. Gigantes forced 23 Halcones UV Xalapa turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international swingman Jovan Harris (191-81, college: USF) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) scored 15 points. Gigantes maintains eleventh place with 9-21 record. Halcones UV Xalapa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 17 games lost. Gigantes will meet at home league's leader Halcones Rojos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against Abejas (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
