Regular Season Round 35: Angeles - Fuerza Regia 81-97

No shocking result in a game in Acapulco where sixth ranked Fuerza Regia (19-13) defeated 10th ranked Angeles (14-15) 97-81. The game was mostly controlled by Fuerza Regia. Angeles was better in third quarter 29-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fuerza Regia dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Angeles' 32. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Gabriel Giron (190-88) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Cuban point guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) accounted for 19 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Fuerza Regia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) came up with 21 points and the other American import forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 10 points respectively for Angeles in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia maintains sixth place with 19-13 record. Newly promoted Angeles keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Fuerza Regia's next round opponent will be higher ranked Toros (#5) in Nuevo Laredo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Angeles will play on the road against Huracanes (#7) in Tampico and hope to win that game.
