There was a small surprise in Sao Paulo where eleventh ranked Mogi (8-9) defeated 9th ranked Vivo/Franca (7-9) 78-74. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Mogi made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Vivo/Franca turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Vivo/Franca helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Nigerian-American power forward Jefferson Agba (209-80, college: Embry Riddle) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Center Daniel Castellar (202-83) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. The former international center Paulo Prestes (210-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Leonardo Meindl (200-93) added 16 points respectively for Vivo/Franca in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mogi moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Basquete Cearense. Vivo/Franca at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Mogi's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vivo/Franca will play against SKY/Basquete (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
