Regular Season Round 16: Hap.Petah Tikva - H.R. Le-Zion 88-84

Bottom-ranked Hap.Petah Tikva managed to get a third victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they won against fifth-ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion 88-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion. It looked good early as Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hap.Petah Tikva had a 33-24 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-88. Hap.Petah Tikva dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's 38 and made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Management Group) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) (made all of her eight free throws). Forward Kaili McLaren (188-88, college: Connecticut) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Amanda Thompson (183-87, college: Oklahoma) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her seven free throws) and point guard Alexis Gray-Lawson (173-87, college: California) added 24 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hap.Petah Tikva maintains ninth position with 3-12 record. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Hap.Petah Tikva will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play at home against the league's leader Elitzur Ramla (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
