Regular Season Round 15: Wildcats - Tigers 80-83

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Perth Wildcats (15-4) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Melbourne Tigers (12-8) 83-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perth Wildcats. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-80. It was a great evening for the former international forward Mark Worthington (203-83, college: Metro St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) helped adding 23 points. The best for the losing side was American swingman James Ennis (201-90, college: Long Beach St.) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Tom Jervis (213-87, college: Troy) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Melbourne Tigers maintains third place with 12-8 record having just two points less than leader Wildcats. Perth Wildcats at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Melbourne Tigers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Perth Wildcats will play again on the road against Melbourne Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
