Regular Season Round 20: UNBC - UBC 58-79
Date: January 24, 2014
There was no surprise in Prince George where 6th ranked Timberwolves (4-11) were outplayed by third ranked UBC (10-5) 79-58 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-58. UBC forced 24 Timberwolves turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kris Young (178-92) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Harleen Sidhu (188-90, college: Nebraska) who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four UBC players scored in double figures. point guard Mercedes Van Koughnett (165) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Emily Kaehn (175) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UBC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Victoria. Timberwolves lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. UBC will have a break next round. Timberwolves will play again on the road against the league's second-placed UBC (#2) in Vancouver and hope to win that game.
