Everything went according to plan when second ranked Axemen (9-3) defeated 6th ranked Capers (4-8) in Sydney, NS 77-60 on Friday. The game without a history. Axemen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Quite impressive performance for guard Shaquille Smith (190) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Anthony Sears (193) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Axemen players scored in double figures. Forward Cedric Kasongo (193) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and forward Arild Geugjes (203) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Capers. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Axemen keeps a position of league leader. Loser Capers keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Axemen will have a break next round. Capers will play on the road against Tigers (#7) in Halifax, NS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
