Rather predictable result when second ranked Gaiters (6-1) won against 4th ranked Rouge et Or (2-7) in Quebec City, QC 87-76 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Gaiters. Rouge et Or was better in third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rouge et Or 45-29 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for forward David Belanger (196) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Center Mike Andrews (208) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Antoine Beaumier (198) replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and Belgian Thibaud Dezutter (191) added 16 points in the effort for Rouge et Or. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gaiters have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Rouge et Or lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Gaiters will have a break next round. Rouge et Or will play again at home against the league's leader Gaiters (#1) and hope to win that game.
