Date: January 24, 2014
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Gee-Gees (13-2) crushed 5th ranked Lions (8-7) in Toronto, ON 117-88 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Gee-Gees. Lions was better in third quarter 29-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Lions outrebounded Gee-Gees 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 52.8 percentage. It was a very good performance for point guard Michael L'Africain (185) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists. Guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Five Gee-Gees players scored in double figures. Forward Ryan Ejim (198) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and forward Daniel Tulloch (196) added 20 points in the effort for Lions. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gee-Gees keep a position of league leader, which they share with Victoria and Alberta. Loser Lions keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Gee-Gees will face Golden Gaels (#6) in Kingston, ON in the next round where they are favorite. Lions will play on the road against the league's leader Ravens in Ottawa, ON and hope to win that game.
