Regular Season Round 27: Guangdong ST - Xinjiang FT 119-111

An interesting game for Guandong Tigers (24-3) which hosted in Dongguan second-best Xinjiang Flying Tige (21-6). First ranked Guandong Tigers managed to get a 8-point victory 119-111. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Xinjiang Flying Tige. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Xinjiang Flying Tige won third quarter 36-34. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers made 20-of-21 charity shots (95.2 percent) during the game. Guandong Tigers outrebounded Xinjiang Flying Tige 50-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Xinjiang Flying Tige was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international Jianlian Yi (212-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) helped adding 23 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Priority Sports) with 29 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Five Guandong Tigers and four Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 24-3 record. Xinjiang Flying Tige at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Guandong Tigers will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#16) in Taiyuan in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play on the road against DongGuan Leopards (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
