Regular Season Round 25: Chalons-Reims - Poitiers 78-67

Very expected game when 10th ranked Poitiers (12-13) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Chalons-Reims (16-8) 78-67 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Chalons-Reims. Poitiers was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Poitiers 40-24 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Ronald Slay (203-81, college: Tennessee, agency: David Lee services) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import power forward John Turek (206-83, college: Nebraska) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Chalons-Reims' coach Nikola Antic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Dominican swingman Jeff Greer (196-79, college: Rutgers) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: Le Moyne) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. Chalons-Reims moved-up to second place, which they share with Bourg. Loser Poitiers keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Chalons-Reims will face Denain Voltaire (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Poitiers will play against Hyeres-Toulon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
