There was no surprise when 16th ranked Saint Vallier (9-16) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Hyeres-Toulon (14-11) 81-70 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hyeres-Toulon. Saint Vallier was better in third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) fired 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import power forward Kurt Cunningham (205-87, college: Boise St.) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Five Hyeres-Toulon players scored in double figures. Hyeres-Toulon's coach Laurent Legname used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American Steve Smith (200-81, college: Iona) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and Philippe Haquet (200-86) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Hyeres-Toulon have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Le Portel and Fos Ouest.
