Regular Season Round 16: Bulleen B. - Sydney UF 65-62
Date: January 24, 2014
Not a big story in a game in Melbourne where 7th ranked Sydney Uni Flames (8-12) were edged by third ranked Bulleen Boomers (13-6) 65-62 on Friday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 14-10. But Sydney Uni Flames won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Rebecca Allen (185-92) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international forward Rohanee Cox (182-80) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Bulleen Boomers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-6 record having six points less than leader Bendigo S. Loser Sydney Uni Flames dropped to the sixth place with 12 games lost. Bulleen Boomers will face Canberra Capitals (#7) at home in the next round. Sydney Uni Flames will play against the league's leader Bendigo Spirit and hope to win that game.
