Regular Season Round 20: Calgary - Alberta 65-69

Date: January 24, 2014
The game between Top Four teams took place in Exshaw. One of their biggest challengers host Calgary (11-4) lost to second ranked Pandas (13-2) 69-65The guests were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-18 Calgary's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 69-65 at the end of the game. Pandas made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Calgary turnovers and outrebounded them 36-18 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by forward Andria Carlyon (191) who scored that evening 23 points and 7 rebounds and forward Kendra Asleson (183-91) supported her with 6 points and 11 rebounds. Even 18 points and 4 assists by British point guard Kristie Sheils (173-91) did not help to save the game for Calgary. Guard Tamara Jarrett (168-91) added 17 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pandas have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Calgary at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. They share the position with Carleton and Ottawa. Pandas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Calgary will play again on the road against the league's leader Pandas in Edmonton and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
