No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Athinaikos (5-9) beat bottom-ranked Kronos AD (2-12) in Athens 70-57 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Athinaikos's pressure prevailed and they won that period 22-16 extending their advantage to 13 points. Athinaikos forced 20 Kronos AD turnovers. American-FYR Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Theoni Tzegianaki (167-85) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists. American forward Katherine Harry (190, college: De Paul) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds and the former international guard Aikaterini Spatharou (172-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Kronos AD in the defeat. Athinaikos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Aris. Loser Kronos AD stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. They share it with Ikaros. Athinaikos will meet Ikaros (#9) in the next round. Kronos AD will play against PAOK and hope to secure a win.
