Regular Season Round 11: Alcobendas - Gernika 75-67

Gernika (10-1) recorded its first loss on the court of third ranked Alcobendas on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Alcobendas 75-67. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Gernika. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group B. Gernika trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 16-10 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 67-75 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Allison Feaster-Strong (181-76, college: Harvard, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Noelia Otero (184-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Britany Miller (193-87, college: Florida St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds and center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Alcobendas (9-2) moved-up to second place in Group B. Gernika at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Alcobendas are looking forward to face IF Air Europa (#8) in S'Arenal in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gernika will play on the road against Tenerife (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
