Regular Season Round 17: Stal Ostrow - AZS PP 82-65

Rather predictable result in Ostrow Wlkp. where ninth ranked Stal Ostrow (8-9) defeated 12th ranked AZS PP (3-14) 82-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Stal Ostrow. AZS PP was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stal Ostrow shot 26 for 35 from the free-throw line, while AZS PP only scored nine points from the stripe. AZS PP was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Tomasz Prostak (188-88) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Tomasz Ochonko (184-86, agency: Promotex) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Stal Ostrow players scored in double figures. Center Adam Metelski (206-83, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and Tomasz Baszak (183-82) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Stal Ostrow maintains ninth place with 8-9 record. AZS PP lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Stal Ostrow will face higher ranked Sokol Lancut (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS PP will play against Znicz Basket (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
