Seventh-ranked Arxil Pontevedra (5-6) made lots of trouble for first ranked Al-Qazeres (10-1) in Caceres. Al-Qazeres managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Arxil Pontevedra was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 29-9 third quarter run of Al-Qazeres. They also forced 19 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Al-Qazeres especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Callan Taylor (182-90, college: Sacred Heart) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Veronica Sanchez (179-85) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Mali Minata Keita (-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and forward Maria Lago added 23 points in the effort for Arxil Pontevedra. Al-Qazeres have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group A with 10-1 record, which they share with Ensino and Ferrol. Arxil Pontevedra at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Celta Selmark and Aros Leon. Al-Qazeres will play against Universidad de Valladolid (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Arxil Pontevedra will play against Universitario de Ferrol (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
