Regular Season Round 23: Lakehead - Brock 99-57
Date: January 25, 2014
Rather expected game in Thunder Bay, ON where 7th ranked Badgers (2-14) were crushed by fifth ranked Thunderwolves (6-10) 99-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Thunderwolves led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Badgers to just 6 points in second quarter. Thunderwolves made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Badgers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Badgers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Thunderwolves made 11 blocks. It was a great evening for forward Igor Lebov (197-90, college: Franklin Pierce) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Henry Tan (183) helped adding 23 points. Four Thunderwolves players scored in double figures. Forward Dani Elgadi (201) responded with 9 points and 9 rebounds and forward Ryan Flanagan (201) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Thunderwolves moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Western. Badgers lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Badgers will play on the road against Warriors (#8) in Waterloo, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
