Regular Season Round 16: Stelmet ZG - Rosa Radom 91-89

Fifth-ranked Rosa Radom (8-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked Stelmet ZG (13-2) in Zielona Gora on Saturday. Stelmet ZG managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rosa Radom. Rosa Radom trailed by 21 points after 3 quarters before a 39-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 89-91 at the end of the game. Stelmet ZG made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Rosa Radom helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for the winners. DR Congolese Christian Eyenga (201-89) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Stelmet ZG players scored in double figures. American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Korie Lucious (180-89, college: Iowa St.) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Stelmet ZG have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-2 record. Rosa Radom at the other side dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Asseco and Slask Wroclaw. Stelmet ZG are looking forward to face Anwil (#4) in Wloclawek in the next round. Rosa Radom will play on the road against Slask Wroclaw and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
