An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Lugo. Second ranked Maquinaria Ensino faced 4th placed Real Celta Vigo. Host Maquinaria Ensino (10-1) smashed guests from Vigo (5-6) 65-36. The game without a history. Maquinaria Ensino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Real Celta Vigo to just 2 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. Maquinaria Ensino held Real Celta Vigo to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Maquinaria Ensino forced 20 Real Celta Vigo turnovers and outrebounded them 43-25 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Center Yaiza Garcia (190-88, agency: Regeneracom Sports) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. point guard Begona Pallardo (168-92) came up with 9 points and 5 rebounds and forward Maria Perez Araujo (184-97) added 7 points respectively for Real Celta Vigo in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Maquinaria Ensino. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with Ferrol and Al-Qazeres. Real Celta Vigo lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Maquinaria Ensino's next round opponent will be Aros Leon (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Real Celta Vigo will play against Cafe Barco in Badajoz and hope to win that game.
