There was a minor upset in Thunder Bay where 4th placed Brock (11-6) was crushed by sixth ranked Thunderwolves (8-8) 63-36 on Saturday. The game without a history. Thunderwolves led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brock to just 5 points in second quarter. Thunderwolves held Brock to an opponent 21.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Thunderwolves forced 19 Brock turnovers and outrebounded them 48-25 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Jylisa Williams (173-89, college: Georgia St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Essa Jacobsen (182-92, college: Mesabi Range) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nicole Rosenkranz (185) who recorded 4 points and 7 rebounds and guard Kayla Santilli (178) added 7 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunderwolves moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toronto Univ. Loser Brock keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Brock will play on the road against Waterloo (#8) and hope to win that game.
