The game in Gwynneville was also quite interesting. Third ranked Melbourne Tigers (12-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Wollongong Hawks (6-12). Melbourne Tigers managed to secure a 8-point victory 86-78 on Sunday. Wollongong Hawks were trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Melbourne Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) who scored 31 points and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Tommy Greer (200-83, college: Nova SE) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Oscar Forman (205-82) who recorded 21 points and American swingman Kevin Tiggs (193-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 16 points respectively. Melbourne Tigers maintains third place with 12-8 record having just two points less than leader Wildcats. Wollongong Hawks lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Melbourne Tigers will meet at home league's leader Perth Wildcats in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Wollongong Hawks will play against Townsville Crocodiles (#8) in Wulguru and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
