The game in Tokyo supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked Tsukuba R. (6-23) played at the court of sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (8-21). Hitachi Sunrockers smashed Tsukuba R. 91-63 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Hitachi Sunrockers's pressure prevailed and they won that period 36-12 extending their advantage to 28 points. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Hitachi Sunrockers had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Darius Rice (208-82, college: Miami, FL) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and Croatian-Canadian center Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-84, college: Jacksonville) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Chiba Jets. Tsukuba R. lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 23 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face higher ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (#3) in Nagoya in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tsukuba R. will play at home against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders and hope to win that game.
