Regular Season Round 26: Chiba Jets - Kumamoto V. 87-76

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Kumamoto V.'s (5-23) road loss to fifth ranked Chiba Jets (8-21) 76-87 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Chiba Jets. Kumamoto V. was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. American guard Lamont Jones (183, college: Iona) produced 40 points (!!!) and guard Daisuke Tamura (182-81) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Kumamoto V.'s coach Norman DeSilva let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chiba Jets have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Chiba Jets maintains fifth position with 8-21 record, which they share with Hitachi SR. Kumamoto V. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with 23 games lost. Chiba Jets will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kumamoto V. will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) and hope to win that game.
