Regular Season Round 26: Denain - Chalons-Reims 72-80
Date: January 28, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Denain Voltaire (13-13) lost at home to third ranked Chalons-Reims (17-8) 80-72 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 46-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Chalons-Reims made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. American power forward John Turek (206-83, college: Nebraska) notched 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Bosnian guard Muhamed Pasalic (192-87) supported him with 12 points and 6 assists. Even 14 points and 5 assists by American point guard Maurice Acker (176-87, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Denain Voltaire. His fellow American import forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Denain Voltaire's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chalons-Reims moved-up to second place, which they share with Bourg. Loser Denain Voltaire keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with St Quentin and Poitiers. Chalons-Reims will meet Orchesien BC (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Denain Voltaire will play against Souffelweyersheim (#12) and hope to secure a win.
