Regular Season Round 15: Snaefell - Haukar 96-82

The game in Stykkisholmur was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Haukar (7-8) played at the court of eighth ranked Snaefell (6-9). Snaefell defeated Haukar 96-82 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Snaefell. Haukar managed to win fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Snaefell shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was American point guard Travis Cohn (187-89, college: Jacksonville) who scored 27 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. The former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) chipped in 25 points. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Haukur Oskarsson (194-91) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Emil Barja (192-91) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Haukar's coach Ivar Asgrimsson rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Snaefell maintains eighth place with 6-9 record. Haukar lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Stjarnan. Snaefell will meet higher ranked Grindavik (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Haukar will play against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
