Regular Season Round 24: Bishop's - McGill 67-80

The biggest surprise of round 24 took place in Lennoxville, QCguest Redmen (#1) beat lower ranked Gaiters (#2) by 13 points 80-67 on Thursday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Redmen. Gaiters managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gaiters to just 7 points in first quarter. Redmen looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Nathan Joyal (198) who scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Simon Bibeau (188-91) chipped in 21 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was French center Majid Naji (211) who recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward David Belanger (196) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Redmen maintains first position with 7-2 record. Gaiters at the other side keep the second place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
