Regular Season Round 17: Elitzur Holon - Elitzur Netanya 66-65

The most exciting game of round 17 in the D1 took place in Holon. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Elitzur Netanya (3-12) to seventh ranked Elitzur Holon (6-10) 66-65 in the game for the seventh place. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Elitzur Netanya won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Elitzur Netanya 44-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Kamiko Williams (180-91, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Kalisha Keane (185-89, college: Michigan St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Amanda Houts (168-87, college: Georgia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Elitzur Netanya. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Elitzur Holon maintains seventh place with 6-10 record. Elitzur Netanya lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Hap.Petah Tikva. Elitzur Holon are looking forward to face league's second-placed Maccabi Ashdod on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elitzur Netanya will play against Bnot Hertzeliya (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
