Regular Season Round 25: Acadia - UNB 96-83

An interesting game for Axemen (11-3) which hosted in Wolfville, NS 4th placed Varsity Reds (8-6). First ranked Axemen managed to get a 13-point victory 96-83. It looked good early as Varsity Reds took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Axemen had a 31-13 second period charge getting the lead and Varsity Reds were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-96. Axemen made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Varsity Reds 45-24 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Owen Klassen (208-91) fired a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for the winners. Kyle Arseneault (196) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Five Axemen players scored in double figures. point guard Javon Masters (183) produced 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his fifteen free throws !!!) and British V.Islands-Australian guard William McFee (191) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Axemen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-3 record. Varsity Reds lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. Axemen's next round opponent will be again Varsity Reds (#5) in Fredericton, NB.
