Regular Season Round 25: Winnipeg - UBC Okanagan 65-60

Date: January 31, 2014
Very predictable result when third ranked Wesmen (12-5) won against 8th ranked Heat (3-14) in Winnipeg, MB 65-60 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 17-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Quite impressive performance for forward Jelane Pryce (201) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. American forward Steven Wesley (196, college: E.Washington) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Wesmen players scored in double figures. Guard Mitch Goodwin (188) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and guard Landry Ndayitwayeko (190) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Heat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Wesmen. They moved-up to second place, which they share with UFV. Heat lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Wesmen will face Wolfpack (#3) in Kamloops, BC in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Heat will play at home against Bisons (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
