Regular Season Round 25: Laurentian - York 86-96

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Lions (9-8) defeated 4th placed Voyageurs (11-6) in Sudbury, ON 96-86 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Lions. Voyageurs was better in third quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lions forced 24 Voyageurs turnovers and outrebounded them 48-23 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for forward Daniel Tulloch (196) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Forward Aaron Rados (198) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Guard Josh Budd (186) answered with 22 points and guard Alex Ratte (191) added 16 points and 6 assists in the effort for Voyageurs. Five Voyageurs players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Lions moved-up to third place, which they share with TRU. Loser Voyageurs keep the fourth position with six games lost. Lions will face Thunderbirds (#7) in Sault Ste. Marie, ON in the next round. Voyageurs will play on the road against Golden Gaels in Kingston, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
