Regular Season Round 10: Kutaisi - Sokhumi 77-68

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Kutaisi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kutaisi defeated 5th ranked Sokhumi at home 77-68. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Kutaisi dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashayev (188-83) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds and center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Sokhumi. Four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Sokhumi at the other side dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Sokhumi will play next round against strong Dinamo Tbilisi trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi - Dinamo Tbilisi. Kutaisi will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Energy Invest in Rustavi.
