Regular Season Round 23: McMaster - Lakehead 46-52

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Thunderwolves (9-8) won against 5th ranked McMaster (10-7) in Hamilton 52-46 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But McMaster won third quarter 6-5. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Thunderwolves dominated on the defensive end, holding McMaster to just 6 points in third quarter. They also forced 24 McMaster turnovers. American guard Jylisa Williams (173-89, college: Georgia St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Guard Ayse Kalkan (173-91) contributed with 7 points for the winners. American forward Hailey Milligan (190-89, college: Canisius) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and guard Danielle Boiago (170) added 16 points in the effort for McMaster. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunderwolves maintains sixth place with 9-8 record. Loser McMaster dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. McMaster will play again on the road against Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay and hope to win that game.
