Regular Season Round 23: St.Mary's - St.Francis X. 78-59

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked St.Francis X.'s (7-7) road loss to leader Huskies (15-0) in Halifax, NS 59-78 on Friday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Huskies's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-9 extending their advantage to 19 points. Huskies outrebounded St.Francis X. 42-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. The former international guard Justine Colley (175-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Laura Langille contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lia St.Pierre (183) answered with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Kolbi Roper (188) added 18 points in the effort for St.Francis X.Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the thirteenth consecutive win for Huskies. They maintain first place with 15-0 record. Loser St.Francis X. dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
