Date: January 31, 2014
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Cascades (13-4) on the court of second ranked Regina on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Regina 64-62. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Cascades. Cascades were trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-20 charge of Regina, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Nicole Clarke (180-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 assists. Guard Katie Polischuk (183) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Kayli Sartori (183) answered with 19 points and 5 steals and Ukrainian forward Nataliia Gavryliuk (180) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cascades. Cascades' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Regina (15-2) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Alberta and Windsor. Cascades at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Regina is looking forward to face TWU (#7) in Langley in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cascades will play at home against Bobcats (#6) and are hoping to win this game.
