Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Manitoba (4-13) lost to fourth ranked TRU (10-7) in Winnipeg 59-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by TRU. Manitoba was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TRU forced 23 Manitoba turnovers. Manitoba was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Jorri Duxbury (170) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points. Forward Kassie Colonna (188) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four TRU players scored in double figures. point guard Sheree Carmona-Galdamez (165) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds and guard Robyn Eyer (170) added 12 points in the effort for Manitoba. Manitoba's coach gave the chance to play for twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for TRU. They moved-up to third place, which they share with McMaster and Queen's. Manitoba lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. TRU will face Wesmen (#5) in Winnipeg in the next round. Manitoba will play on the road against Heat in Kelowna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
