No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked York (6-11) beat 7th ranked Voyageurs (4-13) in Greater Sudbury 67-54 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by York. Voyageurs was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. York outrebounded Voyageurs 39-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Voyageurs were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Courtney Osborne (178) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. point guard Kayla Pangos (165) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Emma Decloe (185) answered with 22 points and point guard Danielle Harris (165) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Voyageurs. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. York maintains fifth place with 6-11 record, which they share with Guelph. Loser Voyageurs dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. York will face Thunderbirds (#8) in Sault Ste. Marie, ON in the next round. Voyageurs will play on the road against Golden Gaels in Kingston and hope to win that game.
